Nana Patekar is an actor who holds a great amount of respect in the film fraternity and amongst his fans. Over the years, this actor has portrayed some characters that have played a long lasting impression on our lives. Be it a smart villain in Parinda and Angaar or a common man with an aim to bring revolution in the society in his movie Krantiveer or an underworld don who does funny acts to convert self into a good human in ‘Welcome’ Nana has played all these characters meticulously.
His directorial debut movie Prahar is still an all-time favourite for many. He is so devoted to his task that he actually underwent the training for his role as an Indian Army officer in Prahaar and was awarded honorary Captain’s rank. He joined the Territorial Army in the early 1990s. He took up the sport of rifle shooting and qualified for the G.V. Mavlankar Shooting Championship.
As an actor Nana has received National Film Award, Padmashree, Filmfare awards in different categories. He is an active contributor to Marathi Cinema & Marathi Plays as well. He is known for his strong roles and as an actor he is not so inclined towards commercial cinema. He believes in doing thought- provoking works which the generations would remember. He is a versatile personality who kept on evolving as an actor, theatre artist, singer and a social activist.
